- Columbus YMCA is founded on November 18, 1856, making Columbus Georgia only the 3rd community in the United States to host the YMCA
1859
Pemberton Named President

J.S. Pemberton (inventor of Coca-Cola) is named President and moves the YMCA to 89 Broad Street.
1903
Historic “Y” Building is born

Construction made possible through the support of native Columbus philanthropist George Foster Peabody, the grand marble building was modeled after the founding YMCA organization building in London. The Historic Y building is the only marble YMCA in the United States.
2010
YMCA Expands
- The Columbus YMCA operated in this historic property until 2010 when the building was sold. The Columbus YMCA relocated. to a brand new facility 3 blocks north.
2019
Revitalized

Local developer W.C. Bradley Real Estate purchases The Historic “Y” with plans to revitalize the property while restoring the property’s historic charm.
2022
Historic “Y” Building is Re-Born

The Historic “Y” building is re-born to become a 23,000 SF, Class A office building. The Historic “Y” has state of the art amenities and technology, while keeping the original marble facade & historic fixtures. The Columbus Chamber of Commerce and Columbus Visitors Bureau are two of the building’s first tenants.
